Ziggy Coyle Sculpture
Nittany Leathernecks will soon be auctioning off on eBay a unique and wonderful ceramic sculpture of a marine and his dog by world-famous sculptor and Bellefonte resident D.M.Z. (Ziggy) Coyle.
The Nittany Leathernecks are a service organization of active, retired and veteran Marines and Navy FMF corpsmen, as well as associate members who served honorably in other service branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Gerry Lyons is a member of Nittany Leathernecks.
Auction proceeds will benefit the Colonel Gerald F. Russell Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to the children and grandchildren of Nittany Leathernecks members, as well as the children of any Centre County veteran (regardless of service branch) who is killed or significantly wounded during military engagements taking place since September 11, 2001. Auction proceeds will also benefit Toys for Tots, Special Olympics, and community outreach programs.
Ziggy Coyle has lived in Bellefonte since 1978 where she maintains a studio on a working farm. Her work is known all over the world and can be found in the collections of singer Elton John, Jo Ann Worley (formerly of "Laugh In"), the Mellon Collection, Merrill Lynch and McDonald's Corporation, among many others. Her sculptures celebrate what is beautiful - and funny - in ordinary people. Each sculpture is rich in detail and each figure has its own personality.
Please check back here later for the dates of the auction and a link to the sculpture on eBay.
